Mothers and the Proverbs 31 Woman

The Proverbs 31 woman was a wife, mother and business woman. It’s important to remember those three aspects - all knitted into one. Today women struggle to manage all their various roles and the many hats they wear, daughter, sister, auntie, wife, mother, friend, lover, worker, nurse, house duties and so on. Just where [...]

Showing Love is not subservient

I hope you’ve seen my Proverbs 31 Woman presentation set to music?  I have it linked on the site here or you can see it at youtube. I had an interesting comment placed at youtube which basically said the writer felt that the Proverbs 31 verses were not positive but saying that women were servants. This morning [...]

You Don’t Have To Wait Till It Gets Dark

This was shared on a forum I belong to and I asked permission to bring it here. Today is my day for the devotional and I want to share something that Celiabeth said to me the other afternoon. Remember, she is our youngest grandchild and has just turned four years old. At the time [...]

She speaks with wisdom…

and faithful instruction is on her tongue Prov 31:26 It’s not always easy to know what the right thing to do or say is. I manage a forum of over 1,000 people, mainly women, in the Virtual Assistant industry.  The forum is many years old but in recent years I’ve felt the need to bring on board [...]

You bless him!

Proverbs 31:20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. There’s a man I see shuffling along in the local shopping strip almost every day. He walks with head bowed and usually has a bunch of books and a bible under his arm.  He rarely looks up at anyone. Many months ago [...]

Lesson Learned from Ironing a Shirt

I was ironing a shirt this morning for Jeremy, my 10-year-old son. It seems like Jeremy always rumples his shirt. I was silently grumbling to myself that “I didn’t want to be ironing this shirt” and “why can’t he keep his shirt off the floor”, etc. You know, those silent conversations we have with ourselves. Admit it, you have them too.

I then had a thought. How many times does God have to iron my shirts? How often in my Christian life do I drop my shirts on the floor and allow them to become w… Continue

A Child's Grief

I think one of the hardest parts about being a mom is when I deal with my children losing something they truly love. Over the past 20 years it has happened. We have lost pets, friends and distant relatives.

Recently we lost a beloved uncle to our children and brother to my husband. He was single for years and after he married he and his wife did not have children. They have spoiled all of the nieces and nephews as much as parents would allow. About 18 months ago they bought my then 15-year-old… Continue

God is Good

I have been away from the forums for a while. My emotions have really been up and down with the death of my brother-in-law. God is good and he has brought us through a trial in our lives and I look forward to His continued mercies in the coming weeks and months.

Adventures of a Harley Chic Rider

[Note: This is short story style. It is long.
Take your time to read it.]

My first long distance trip

In August a friend of ours lost his father to the battle of cancer. Our friend invited us to his father's funeral (some people call it a wake). We attended. At the service a big Harley d00d came up to the mic to support a man who was shedding tears for his friend who passed away. The big Harley guy started talking. He talked of his friend's faith who passed away and how strong hi… Continue
